    The Chinese often go to the temple to pray. They pray for blessings in their lives. The typical five blessings are Longevity, Wealth, Good Health, Doing Good works and a Peaceful Death. They ask for blessings from a mix of Taoist Gods and Buddha. Let us take a look at these blessings from a biblical perspective.

    value.” This is not a rocket science statement, Yet, we toil day in and
    day out for things that are of transitory value and neglect the thing of
    eternal value.

    What is that thing of eternal value? Our eternal life, our
    eternal salvation?

    The Qualities of Love (Part 2)

    1 Corinthians 13:6-7

    Verse 6 begins with a warning that love does not rejoice in iniquity and follows it with “but” rejoices in the truth. It is not a license for unconditional love to encompass even sin.

    Question: do you love a sinful person so that he will change, or do you love a person when he develops the attitude of change?

    The Qualities of Love (Part 1)

    1 Corinthians 13:4-5

    The qualities of love is expounded using just two verses in 1 Corinthians. Paul has summed up these qualities in a succinct manner. He starts of by stating that love suffers long and is kind. He then goes into a negative rhetoric of what love “does not” or “is not”.

    “Love suffers long” is translated simply as “love is patient”. In 2 Peter 3:9, God “is long-suffering towards us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” Such is God’s love that He waits patiently for us.
